Why is My AC System Blowing Hot Air?
Is the air conditioning system in your Kinston, North Carolina, home blowing hot air? If so, it can cause serious discomfort during the warm seasons. An AC airflow problem can have a number of causes. Take a look at what may be causing your home’s AC system to blow hot air.
Dirty Air Filter
One of the most common causes of airflow issues or temperature problems is a dirty air filter. Although the filter may not seem terribly important, it’s actually a vital component. Therefore, it’s important that you change it regularly to keep the system operating efficiently.
A clogged, dirty filter can cause your system to produce hot instead of cool air, and it’ll decrease the indoor air quality in your home. Failing to keep up with regular filter changes can also put unnecessary wear on the system. As a result, it’ll break down more often.
Lack of Power
Your air conditioning system needs a power source to work properly. If it’s somehow lost power, you may feel hot air or no air at all.
This can occur if the fuse has blown or the circuit breaker has tripped, which you should be able to resolve on your own. A wiring issue can also cause this problem, which an experienced HVAC service technician should address.
Damaged Compressor
The outdoor unit of your AC system contains a compressor. It converts refrigerant to its liquid form and allows for proper removal of heat from the air. If the compressor gives out, the system will no longer be able to remove heat from the air, resulting in hot air coming through your vents.
If this is the case, you may need a new system as the compressor is a major component. Our service technicians can take a closer look to determine whether the compressor is to blame.
